45th John Reid Tournament

The John Reid Memorial Tournament (JRMT) is a thrilling four-day competition that brings together sixteen U15 AAA and Prep teams from all over North America.

The JRMT has been a part of hockey in St. Albert for 44 years, and it will present a total of 42 games across four days, highlighting the exceptional talents of 14 and 15-year-old players.

TAKE IN THE ACTION

All St. Albert Raiders players can attend the JRMT free of charge. You can find a full game schedule on the tournament website.

VOLUNTEER

There is tremendous support for the tournament from our hockey community, and each year, volunteers contribute hundreds of hours to ensure the tournament is a success.

JOHN REID

John had a great love of sports, particularly hockey. He played minor hockey in Edmonton, Junior A for the St. Albert Saints and the Sherwood Park Crusaders, and for the U of A Golden Bears while attending University. He coached Bantam AA and AAA teams in St. Albert and was an assistant coach with the St. Albert Saints. John also contributed to coaching as a father, coaching his two sons and daughter.

John was fair, competitive, and extremely positive. He was affectionately known as “the man with the big smile.” John defined success as simply hard work and perseverance, always emphasizing that hard work would take kids further than talent. He had a genuine love for children, a love for teaching and a love to see his students succeed — the perfect Coach!
